SAN ANTONIO – Get ready to witness some scorching hot action as the Southwest Dragons gear up to dominate the field in District 14-5A Division 1.
Under the leadership of head coach Alex Franco, the Dragons are primed to clinch the 14-5A D1 crown, as predicted by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine.
After finishing with a strong 9-2 record in 2023 and falling short in the first round of the playoffs, Southwest is eager to make a comeback in 2024 with mostly the same squad.
With nine offensive starters and seven defensive starters returning, the Dragons are locked and loaded for a redemption season.
Quarterback A.J. Franco expressed the team’s hunger for success, stating, “Not making it past the first round hurts us. This year, we’re determined to break that cycle and go further.”
Ranked at No. 24 in Dave Campbell’s Class 5A preseason rankings statewide, Southwest is poised to make some serious noise on the gridiron.
