Breaking News: Attorney Linked to Oath Keepers Pleads Guilty in Capitol Attack Case

In a shocking development, Kellye SoRelle, a former attorney for the far-right Oath Keepers group, has pleaded guilty to charges related to the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. SoRelle, who served as the general counsel for the extremist group, is now facing sentencing on January 17 in Washington, D.C.

The charges against SoRelle include obstructing justice and entering a restricted building or grounds. Despite facing a maximum prison sentence of 20 years, her estimated sentencing guidelines suggest a maximum of 16 months behind bars.

SoRelle’s arrest in Texas in September 2022 raised questions about her mental health, leading to a months-long suspension of her case. However, recent assessments have deemed her mentally competent to stand trial.

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence for his involvement in a plot related to the 2020 presidential election. SoRelle had assumed leadership of the group in Rhodes’ absence.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as it unfolds. The events surrounding the Capitol attack continue to reveal shocking details about the extent of extremism in our society.
