Texans are set to play a significant role at the upcoming Democratic National Convention, with key figures speaking on important issues and shaping the future of the party in the state.
Notable speakers include U.S. Reps. Jasmine Crockett and Veronica Escobar, who will address the convention mainstage. Amanda Zurawski and youth activist Olivia Julianna are also scheduled to speak, along with President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
The convention serves as a platform for emerging political talents, showcasing individuals with bright futures in the party. While the convention is largely ceremonial this year, it remains an important gathering for Democrats.
Despite not being listed as a speaker, U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, the party’s Senate candidate, will engage with the Texas delegation throughout the week, emphasizing the importance of key races in the state.
Aside from the mainstage speakers, Texas delegates will hear from elected officials like Lizzie Fletcher, Marc Veasey, Greg Casar, and others at delegation breakfasts. These events offer opportunities for engagement and networking among delegates.
San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, State Rep. Julie Johnson, and former congressional candidate Gina Ortiz Jones will also address the Texas delegation, sharing insights on various issues and campaigns.
Escobar and Casar will participate in national caucus meetings on the sidelines of the convention, highlighting their roles in key groups like the Women’s Caucus and Youth Council.
