Democratic National Convention Kicks Off in Chicago
CHICAGO – The Democratic National Convention kicks off in Chicago on Monday. Just four weeks after President Joe Biden stepped down and cleared the way for Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the Democratic ticket, the political landscape has shifted dramatically.
With the 2024 election in mind, the convention takes on added significance as Democrats regroup and strategize in the face of this unexpected change.
Here’s what to look out for on the first day:
Biden Will Speak Monday Night
Originally scheduled to speak on Thursday, Biden will now deliver his keynote address on Monday, passing the baton to Harris and emphasizing the urgency of preventing a second term for Trump.
Harris, set to deliver her own speech later in the week, will be present to witness Biden’s address.
