The Thrilling Finish at LIV Golf Greenbrier: Brooks Koepka Emerges Victorious
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – The picturesque setting of The Greenbrier in West Virginia witnessed a breathtaking showdown on Sunday as Brooks Koepka clinched his second LIV Golf League victory of the year. The intense competition culminated in a thrilling playoff where Koepka outplayed Jon Rahm to secure the title with a par on the first extra hole.
Rahm, who had suffered a heart-wrenching defeat at the Olympics, where he lost a four-shot lead on the back nine, started the final round with a two-shot advantage. However, Koepka’s spectacular 7-under 63 round brought the two players to a tie at 19-under 191, forcing a playoff.
In the playoff at the challenging par-3 18th hole, Rahm faltered by going over the green and into a bunker. Despite a valiant effort, his par putt to extend the playoff narrowly missed, opening the door for Koepka to claim victory.
With this win, Koepka added a second LIV Golf League title to his name this year, having previously triumphed in LIV Golf Singapore. The victory marked Koepka’s fifth career win since the inception of the Saudi-funded league in 2022.
Jason Kokrak put up a fierce fight with a superb 63 to finish in third place, while Englishman Richard Bland, aged 51, narrowly missed out on the lead despite an impressive performance.
In the team competition, Koepka’s squad, Smash, emerged victorious, clinching the team title by a margin of three shots.
