Perdue Foods Recalls Frozen Chicken Nuggets and Tenders Due to Metal Wire Contamination
NEW YORK – Perdue Foods is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders after customers reported finding metal wire embedded in the products.
The recall covers select lots of three products: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets, and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.
The contamination affected 167,171 pounds of these products, with the material being identified as a very thin strand of metal wire. The recall was initiated as a cautionary measure to ensure consumer safety.
There have been no reported injuries or adverse reactions associated with the consumption of these products. The concern is that contaminated products might still be in consumers’ freezers.
Consumers are advised to check their freezers for the recalled products with specific product codes and best if used by date of March 23, 2025. They can contact Perdue for full refunds by calling 866-866-3703.
Foreign object contamination, like metal pieces, is a common reason for food recalls. Other incidents involving plastic, rocks, insects, and more have also led to product recalls in the past.
