Welcome Back SAISD Students!
SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Independent School District is gearing up to welcome its students back to class on Tuesday, with some exciting changes in store for the new school year.
After the closure of more than a dozen schools as part of SAISD’s rightsizing plan, a large number of students will now be attending new schools within the district. This move is aimed at streamlining resources more efficiently and enhancing the overall educational experience for students.
The closed campuses will now serve as bus stops for students attending the new schools, including the district’s pre-k students. This will make transportation more convenient for parents and students, as they are already familiar with the locations.
Nathan Graf, the senior executive director of transportation, mentioned that with the closure of Pre-K Centers, the district no longer has separate buses for pre-k students. Instead, pre-k students will now ride the elementary school buses, which are equipped with built-in car seats for added safety.
Graf reassured parents by mentioning that the elementary school buses transporting pre-k students will have monitors on board for additional supervision. Parents are also encouraged to fill out the district’s Pre-K Ridership form to ensure a smooth transportation process for their little ones.
As the new school year kicks off, SAISD is committed to providing a safe and efficient transportation experience for all students, setting the stage for a successful academic year ahead.
