Manhunt suspect arrested for shooting man in head, authorities report

In a dramatic turn of events, a suspect who was the target of a multi-county manhunt on Saturday was found to have shot a man in the head earlier that day, as reported by San Antonio police.

The incident took place around 3 p.m. on Saturday in the 1400 block of Pasadena Street. Eric Rodriguez, 47, was engaged in a heated argument with another man for reasons unknown.

During the altercation, Rodriguez allegedly fired multiple gunshots at the man before fleeing the scene, leaving the victim critically injured with gunshot wounds to the head.

Law enforcement quickly responded to the shooting, sparking a manhunt that led to an intense chase involving multiple agencies as Rodriguez attempted to evade capture.

After a dramatic pursuit, Rodriguez eventually crashed his vehicle in a Castroville neighborhood and attempted to flee on foot. However, he was apprehended as authorities closed in on him, ending the high-stakes chase without further incident.

The collaborative efforts of SAPD, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Castroville Police Department, and other agencies played a crucial role in the successful apprehension of Rodriguez.

The suspect now faces a myriad of charges as he sits in custody at the Medina County Jail, bringing an end to a chaotic day of violence and mayhem.
