The Flores family was honored with a gift on Saturday in memory of their beloved son, Jose Flores Jr.
Jose tragically lost his life in the Robb Elementary School shooting on May 24, 2022, at the young age of 9. Despite his tender age, he held aspirations of becoming a police officer in the future.
In a touching ceremony, Jamaica Beach Police Chief Ray Garivey bestowed upon Jose’s family a framed jacket, officially inducting Jose as an honorary police officer.
Over two years have passed since the Flores family endured the heartbreaking loss of Jose. Chief Garivey expressed the significance of the gesture, emphasizing the importance of honoring Jose’s memory and legacy.
Chief Garivey shared his heartfelt sentiment, stating, “My calling is just to try to be part of the grieving, to the healing process, to do what I can for that family, to let them know that law enforcement in Jamaica Beach and in Galveston County welcome his son into our blue family.”
