SAN ANTONIO – Shock and disbelief have gripped the community after a gruesome discovery unfolded in northeast Bexar County. A 48-year-old man, Daniel Michael Gibson, has been arrested and charged after his father’s body was found in a refrigerator in their family home.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the deceased father, in his late 70s, was found “badly decomposed” inside a chained fridge in the garage. This appalling scene was uncovered during a routine welfare check at the residence in the 7500 block of Rustic Trail.
Sheriff Javier Salazar recounted how a deputy, responding to concerns about the father’s well-being, encountered someone at the house through a Ring doorbell. Suspicious behavior led to the discovery that Gibson was impersonating his father, prompting further investigation.
With the family’s cooperation, deputies gained entry into the home and unearthed the grisly truth inside the chained fridge. The investigation into the cause of the father’s death remains ongoing, but Gibson has already been charged with tampering with evidence related to his father’s remains.
As the community grapples with this disturbing revelation, Gibson is currently being held on a $250,000 bond in connection with the case. The shocking incident serves as a stark reminder of the dark realities that can lurk behind closed doors.
