In a recent development, the case involving three former San Antonio police officers charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman inside her apartment last summer has been moved to Judge Ron Rangel’s 379th Criminal District Court.
The court staff at the 379th Criminal District Court are currently working on scheduling the case for Judge Ron Rangel’s future docket, indicating progress in the legal proceedings.
Initially, the case was expected to be heard by Judge Stephanie Boyd of the 187th District Court. However, following a motion to recuse her from handling the case, Judge Boyd was removed, and the case was transferred to Judge Ron Rangel’s court.
During the recusal motion hearing, the defense attorneys expressed their dissatisfaction with Judge Boyd’s handling of the case, leading to her removal from the proceedings.
The incident in question took place last summer when Melissa Perez was tragically shot and killed inside her Southwest Side apartment. The case has since garnered significant attention and legal scrutiny.
