New Yorkers Board Bus with Civil Rights Leader Rev. Al Sharpton for Get-Out-the-Vote Campaign

NEW YORK – A group of passionate New Yorkers, including civil rights leader the Rev. Al Sharpton and members of the group formerly known as the Central Park Five, embarked on a bus tour from Harlem to Philadelphia on a mission to energize youth voters leading up to the 2024 election.

With less than 40 days until Election Day, the strategic choice of Pennsylvania as the battleground state made perfect sense. The tour aimed to engage and inspire Black voters, whose turnout can greatly impact the election outcome in the state.

During the tour, Reverend Al Sharpton emphasized the importance of personal testimonies in reaching out to Black men who may be considering supporting Trump. The stories shared by the Central Park Five shed light on the injustice and racism they faced, highlighting the stark contrast to the image Trump projected.

Yusef Salaam, one of the exonerated men, used his own journey to advocate for voter participation, urging residents in Philadelphia to stand up against the American nightmare perpetuated by divisive politics and injustices.
