Blanco Cafe
Nestled at 1720 Blanco Road, Blanco Cafe recently underwent a thorough reinspection after receiving its lowest score in five years back in August – an 83, according to Metro Health officials.
During the original inspection, inspectors came across freshly washed dishes abandoned on the floor, along with some cooks lacking proper certification. A wall near the refrigerator also revealed a troubling sight – five live pests.
Providing an update, manager Sylvia Gonzalez proudly presented a pest control receipt, indicating immediate action was taken following the initial inspection. She confirmed that certifications were updated, and necessary equipment was procured to remedy the situation.
Addressing customer concerns, Gonzalez assured that corrective measures were promptly implemented to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for dining.
Beer King
Not too far away, at 3703 Blanco Road, the convenience store Beer King also faced a reinspection. A closer look revealed two live pests – one found on the ice machine and another in the sanitized sink compartment.
Inspectors further noted seven pest droppings beneath the cabinets housing the soda machine.
J’Anthony’s Seafood Cafe
J’Anthony’s Seafood Cafe, located at 7210 Northwest Loop 410, encountered two recurring violations during a recent inspection. The absence of food handler certifications and dishwasher test strips were highlighted in the report. Dead roaches were found underneath the cook line, along with an unsettling number of gnats.

100-90 = A (Very Good to Acceptable)
89-80 = B (Acceptable to Marginal)
79 or lower = C (Marginal to Poor)
