RUNNEMEDE, N.J. – Exciting news for baseball fans and memorabilia collectors! The baseball that Shohei Ohtani hit for his 50th home run, marking his entry into the exclusive 50-50 club, will be up for auction starting this Friday.
Ohtani made history as the first player in Major League history to achieve 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same season with the Los Angeles Dodgers last week in Miami.
The lucky fan who caught the milestone ball is teaming up with Goldin, a renowned New Jersey-based auction house specializing in collectibles, to put the ball up for bidding.
The starting bid for this iconic baseball is set at $500,000. The ball, authenticated by Major League Baseball, shows black scuffing and abrasions on the white leather surface.
Potential buyers also have the option to purchase the ball outright for $4.5 million between Friday and Oct. 9. If the bidding reaches $3 million before Oct. 9, the private purchase option will no longer be available, and bidding will continue. Extended bidding will commence on Oct. 16.
Ken Goldin, the founder and CEO of the auction house, remarked, “Ohtani is truly one-of-a-kind, and the 50-50 record may be his crowning achievement. This historic baseball piece will be a cherished item for fans and historians worldwide for years to come.”
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to own a piece of baseball history and commemorate Shohei Ohtani’s incredible milestone in the sport.
