Man Sentenced to 40 Years in Deadly Road Rage Shooting
A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after being convicted of murder in connection with a deadly road rage shooting. Martin Trevino was sentenced on Wednesday in the 227th Criminal District Court as part of a plea deal.
Trevino was arrested by San Antonio police on Feb. 15, 2023, for the murder of Timothy John Sypher, who was shot and killed on June 26, 2022. Sypher was driving downtown on East Martin Street when he was shot by Trevino at a red light near a construction area.
After being shot, Sypher was rushed to the hospital by EMS but succumbed to his injuries. He had reported to police that he was the victim of a road rage incident before he died.
During the investigation, officers found a spent shell casing at the scene which was linked to another shooting that occurred a week prior. Both shootings were traced back to Trevino, leading to a murder warrant being issued for his arrest.
