SAN ANTONIO – A recent incident involving a pack of loose dogs attacking a woman on the Southwest Side of San Antonio has raised concerns and spotlighted the issue of pet safety in the community. Animal Care Services has officially declared the dogs dangerous, leading to legal action against the owner for multiple violations, including allowing the dogs to roam freely and failing to provide necessary vaccinations and identification.
The incident occurred on Sept. 4 at the intersection of West Southcross Boulevard and Priscilla Street, where a 44-year-old woman was viciously attacked by a group of five dogs. The woman suffered minor injuries, primarily on her leg, requiring medical attention.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the woman being surrounded by the dogs after they jumped a fence from a nearby property. Despite the swift intervention of a truck driver who came to her aid, the dogs managed to cause further havoc, including damaging an SAPD patrol vehicle.
Animal Care Services has taken custody of the five dogs involved in the attack to prevent any future incidents. Officials are emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership and ensuring the safety of both pets and the public.
