Welcome to Shining Stars Daycare CenterA Shocking RevelationSeeking Justice

In the heart of Jourdanton, Texas, lies Shining Stars Daycare Center. However, this summer, the daycare received citations for multiple deficiencies after disturbing incidents came to light. One such incident involved a 4-year-old boy who was ordered to stand on his tiptoes while squatting for up to 30 minutes as punishment, as per Texas Health and Human Services records.

The daycare was cited for violations related to punishments, caregiver competency, judgment, and discipline methods. Concerned parents, Jessica Herschlip and Lina Moreno, took action after noticing changes in their children’s behavior.

A Shocking Revelation

Herschlip’s son disclosed the harsh punishment to his parents, prompting Herschlip to take action. Her son’s ADHD condition made the punishment even more distressing. The boy was asked to stay in a squatting position for long durations as discipline, significantly impacting him emotionally.

Moreno also expressed concerns about her nephew’s treatment at the daycare. Complaints about cleanliness and isolation of children prompted her to take her two kids out of the facility.

The daycare’s owner responded to inquiries, acknowledging the violations but ensuring corrective action. Despite the controversies, the daycare had a clean record in previous inspections.

Seeking Justice

State investigators conducted unannounced visits to Shining Stars following complaints. The daycare owner emphasized the importance of compliance and awaited legal consultations before further comments.

Texas Health and Human Services reiterated their commitment to child safety and enforcement of minimum standards. As the investigations continue, concerned parents like Herschlip and Moreno stand firm in seeking accountability.
