Stay Safe: Rabid Cats Found in Comal County!

Recently, Comal County Animal Control officials issued a warning to the public to steer clear of wildlife following the discovery of two rabid cats. The infected felines were located on September 6 near the intersections of State Highway 46 and Farm to Market 1863, as well as Highway 46 and U.S. Highway 281.

This alarming incident marks the fifth confirmed case of rabies in Comal County in 2024. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of taking precautions when encountering wild animals.

If you ever find yourself bitten, scratched, or exposed to wildlife, it’s crucial to thoroughly wash the affected area and promptly seek medical attention. Rabies targets the central nervous system of the human body and is typically transmitted through an animal’s bite.

To report any animal bites or potentially harmful encounters with wildlife, reach out to Comal County Animal Control at 830-608-2016 immediately.

Let’s all do our part to protect ourselves and our furry friends from the dangers of rabies. Stay vigilant and prioritize safety in all animal-related interactions!
