KENEDY COUNTY, Texas – A shocking discovery was made in Kenedy County, Texas, as sixteen immigrants were found hidden in a fake wall inside a vehicle trailer. The incident unfolded when a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper pulled over a truck towing a trailer on U.S. Highway 77.
The truck, driven by Anthony Jhonson of Houston, was transporting a car inside a box trailer. Upon consent for a search, the trooper uncovered a false wall inside the trailer. After removing the bolts, he found the cramped compartment where the immigrants were hidden, lacking proper air ventilation.
Jhonson was promptly arrested and charged with sixteen counts of smuggling persons, with the potential for serious bodily harm or even death, according to DPS officials. The immigrants were later handed over to Border Patrol for further processing.
This disturbing incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks and dangers involved in human smuggling operations. It also highlights the relentless efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat such criminal activities.
